Tension has engulfed the agrarian community of Isua Akoko, headquarters of Akoko South East Local Government Area in Ondo State, following the abduction and brutal killing of a well-known youth by suspected herders.
The victim, Ojo Gbara, popularly known as ‘Obesere,’ was reportedly kidnapped a few days ago while traveling from Ibilo in Edo State. His disappearance sparked widespread concern among residents and prompted a coordinated search by security operatives, local hunters, and community youths.
Authorities and community members discovered Gbara’s decomposing body in the Igara forest in Edo State, confirming fears about his fate. Initial reports indicate that he was killed shortly after being abducted, though the exact motive remains under investigation.
The incident has heightened fear in Isua Akoko and surrounding communities, with residents calling for urgent security interventions to prevent further attacks. Local leaders have condemned the act and urged the government to strengthen protection for vulnerable communities in the region.
