Nigeria’s Senate has approved an extension for the implementation of the 2025 budget, particularly for capital projects, with the new deadline set for June 2026.
The decision, according to lawmakers, is intended to allow the government sufficient time to complete ongoing projects affected by funding challenges and other delays.
Senators have warned that without the extension, several key projects, including roads, schools, and hospitals, could be abandoned.
