The Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) has commended the National Youth Service Corps for notable improvements in service NYSC delivery, particularly during orientation camp activities, including feeding and other welfare services for corps members.
The commendation was made on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of the 2025 Second Quarter Networking Meeting for Desk Officers held in Abuja.
Delivering the keynote address, SERVICOM National Coordinator Nnenna Akajemeli described NYSC as “one of the Federal Government agencies demonstrating commendable commitment to quality service delivery and responsiveness to citizens’ needs.” She was represented at the event by the Head of Operations, Ngozi Akinbodewa.
Akajemeli noted that the improvements in orientation camp operations reflect NYSC’s efforts to align with service standards expected of public institutions. She highlighted that initiatives such as better feeding, accommodation, and welfare services underscore the scheme’s dedication to enhancing the overall corps member experience.
The meeting brought together desk officers from various states to review performance, share best practices, and discuss strategies for maintaining high service standards across NYSC operations nationwide.
Officials said the recognition by SERVICOM is expected to encourage further reforms within NYSC, reinforcing its role as a model public agency in citizen-focused service delivery. Observers praised the scheme’s progress, noting that consistent improvements in orientation camp management contribute to positive perceptions of national service and public institutions.
